APIA: 4 Feb 2010: The Samoan Women’s National team have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the 3 match series that started yesterday in Apia, and have now qualified for the 2010 Pepsi ICC EAP Women’s Cricket Trophy to be held in Sano, Japan in May 2010.


$5m euros concessional loan for small businesses

APIA: 4 Feb 2010: The Development Bank of Samoa has signed a $5million euros (SAT$16 million tala) concessional loan with the European Investment Bank, to help small businesss that were destroyed by last years tsunami.

American Samoa prohibits sale of Samoan taro

APIA: 2 Feb 2010: Taro from Samoa have been prohibited from being sold at roadside stalls in American Samoa. The President of the American Samoa Farmers Cooperative Edward Kuki Avegalio has publicly thanked the American Samoan Government and the new Director of Agriculture Lefiti Pese for prohibiting the selling of imported taro at roadside stalls.
