APIA: 13 Nov 2009 - Police are worried about the extension of the opening hours for night clubs from 10.00 to midnight on Fridays and Saturday nights. Police say that there had been a major drop in accidents and alcohol related incidents, since the bars were closed at 10.00 every night.
They are worried that returning the opening hours to midnight will result in more traffic accidents and fights as they used to be infront of the Tauese night club strip.
Nightclubs were closed at 10.00 in September when the road switch came into effect and carried through when the tsunami struck late in the month. Bar owners have been complaining that their businesses have been hurting due to the early closing hours.
