American Samoa COVID-19 Community Cases Rise to 85

APIA, SAMOA – 02 MARCH 2022: COVID-19 community cases in American Samoa has climbed to 85 and Governor Lemanu Peleti Mauga announced in the weekend that the territory will remain under Code Red for another week.

Tala Nei News reports that twenty new cases were recorded yesterday that push the number of community cases to 85 in one week.  Eighteen of the positive cases were fully vaccinated and there are no reported hospitalizations or deaths related to COVID-19.

Those who test positive are isolated at home for 14 days. All family members of the same household are considered close contacts and also have to be quarantine at home for 14 days.

Home Isolation and Quarantine is enforcement by the Department of Public Safety and Office of Samoan Affairs, in cooperation with Department of Health.

The extension of Code Red for another week means except for essential services, ASG departments and all schools, public and private will be closed. Businesses will operate from 5am to 4pm and a 9 pm curfew continues.
