APIA, SAMOA – 07 MARCH 2022: Eight new positive Covid-19 cases are being isolated at the Tupua Tamasese Meaole hospital, Motootua.

This was confirmed by the Prime Minister, Fiame Naomi Mataafa this morning. The positive cases were passengers on the repatriation flight that arrived from New Zealand yesterday afternoon.

The Prime Minister said the flight landed with hundred and seventy two (172) passengers and are all in isolation.

In a separate case, 25 frontliners who worked in clearing a container ship from American Samoa last Saturday are being brought in for tests and observation in isolation.

The frontline workers will be having further tests today and will be released if their results come out negative.

Samoa still has no evidence of a community transmission of Covid-19 and remains on Alert Level One.
