Three Die in Traffic Accident at Siumu

APIA, SAMOA – 15 MARCH 2022:  Three men are confirmed dead and two injured in a traffic accident at Siumu that involved a police dyna truck this afternoon.

One died at the scene of the accident and the others did not reach the hospital.

Deputy Police Commissioner Auapaau Logoitino Filipo said the men were on their way to deliver office materials for the Poutasi Police outpost when the accident happened. Speeding is suspected to be the cause.

He said one of the men was stuck under the truck, and one jumped off when the truck swerved off the road and crashed on the roadside.

Auapaau said the five men are not police officers but work at the Asset Division of the Ministry of Police.

Speeding is suspected to be the cause.
