APIA, SAMOA – 28 MARCH 2022: Samoa’s Ministry of Health has confirmed 182 new community cases as at 2pm yesterday, 27 March 2022.

It pushes the total number of community cases recorded since 17th March 2022 to 1,239 of which 1,200 are active community cases.  Approximately 97 percent of community cases are confirmed in Upolu with the remaining 3 percent of cases in Savaii.

There are no community cases recorded so far for the islands of Manono and Apolima Tai.

According to the Ministry of Health, women make up 58 percent of confirmed community cases compared to 42 percent of men.

Latest data also shows that the prevalence of Covid-19 infection is significantly higher among those between 15 and 35 years of age (see figure 1).  The Ministry confirmed 16,380 RATs have been administered to date since the first case was detected.
