APIA, SAMOA – 07 JULY 2022: Three women from Vaiusu village have been charged for using forged documents with the intention to mislead.

According to prosecution, the charges stemmed from an incident that happened between the 01 and 10 February 2018 at Fugalei where the defendants knowingly used a forged document to secure the signature of two elderly voters.

This caused the Office of the Electoral Commission to use the document as a true and genuine application form by the signatories on the document.

The defendants appeared in the Supreme Court Wednesday this week and were originally charged with forgery but that charge was reduced to using forged documents.

They did not enter any pleas and matter has been referred to the District Court for re-mention.

The defendants are 54 year old Lesina Ulugia Talivaa, 35 year old Maria Bernadette Delilah Tavita Faraimo and 52 year old Laumatia Vitale aka Jacinta Ausage all of Vaiusu.
