APIA, SAMOA – 04 AUGUST 2022: Samoa’s weightlifters Feagaiga Stowers and Jack Opeloge took out two more Silver medals to finish the games with four Weightlifting medals – one Gold and three Silver in the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England.

Jack Opeloge finished second in the men’s 109kg class, while Feagaiga Stowers picked up silver in the women’s 87 plus category.

Opeloge lifted 358kg, only 3kg behind Cameroon’s Junior Nyabeyeu.

He had to settle for a lift of 194kg instead, and silver after his clean and jerk lift of 200kg was overturned after a panel review found it to be a no-lift.

His success follows the gold-medal winning lifts of his elder brother Don Opeloge just 24 hours earlier.

Stowers lifted 268kg, which was some distance behind the eventual gold medallist, Emily Campbell of England.

Samoa’s other medal prospects are in boxing with two boxers advancing to the quarter finals.
