NZ Governor General Guest of Honour at 60th Independence celebrations

APIA, SAMOA – 05 SEPTEMBER 2022: The New Zealand Governor General, Dame Cindy Kiro today inspected the police guard of honour after the raising of the New Zealand and Samoan flags in front of the Government Building.

After the ceremony, she paid a courtesy visit on the Head of State, Tuimalealiifano Va’aletoa Sualauvi 11 at his residence at Vailele.

She is scheduled to participate in 60th independence celebration in Savaii tomorrow before visiting the Vaisala cocoa farmers and plantations supplying the chocolate manufactures in New Zealand. She will also visit the womens’ siapo making and weaving demonstration at Siutu village.

The Governor General and her delegation arrived yesterday and she was a guest at the Prayer Service to open the Teuila Week last night at the EFKS Youth Hall, Mulinu’u.
