Eight grand final stars featured in Toa Samoa’s 2022 World Cup squad

APIA, SAMOA – 27 SEPTEMBER 2022: Toa Samoa’s twenty-four man squad to take on the Rugby League World Cup 2022 in England 15 October – 19 November includes eight grand final stars.

The squad announced this afternoon by the President of the Rugby League Samoa, Tagaloa Faafouina Su’a, includes six Penrith Panthers players; Brian To’o, Jarome Luai, Izack Tago, Taylan May, Spencer Leniu and Stephen Crichton, and two Parramatta Eels players; Oregon Kaufusi and Junior Paulo.

The team also features six (6) debutantes from various clubs and will be coached by Matt Parish as the team prepares for their opening match against the host nation, England on 15 October.

Samoa is one of the first nations to announce its’ squad for the upcoming World Cup 2022 at St. James Park in England.

Announcing the team today at the Samoa Tourism Fale, President of the Rugby League Samoa, Tagaloa Faafouina Su’a said that the squad started assembling this week and started camping today as the team prepares to depart on the 03 October.
