APIA, SAMOA – 13 FEBRUARY 2023: The court has granted a two weeks adjournment of the case brought by the suspended Human Rights Protection Party leaders, Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi and Lealailepule Rimoni Aiafi against the Parliament Speaker, Papali’i Li’o Ta’eu Masipa’u.

Counsel for Tuilaepa and Lealailepule Dr. Rodney Harrison asked for an extension as they wanted to amend their statement of claim and to locate their cultural expert witness.

The claim is against the Speaker regarding their current 2 year suspension from Parliament.

They are also revisiting the Harmony Agreement between HRPP and the FAST Party hence their efforts in locating their Samoan cultural expert witness.

According to Dr. Harrison, the expert witness is currently overseas.

Counsel for the Speaker, Taulapapa Brenda Heather-Latu also asked for a two weeks adjournment.

Presiding Justice Leiataualesa Daryl Clarke granted the adjournment.
