APIA, 25 APRIL 2023: The Ministry of Customs and Revenue will hand over to the Police their latest drug bust of 489.8grams of compressed marijuana (hash) intercepted at the Apia Post Office yesterday.

It is the latest drugs intercept in the continuing collaboration between Customs, the Police Joint K9 Unit, the NZ Police and NZ Customs Pacific Detector Dog Program (PDDP).

The Ministry of Customs says it is rare for these illicit drugs to be detected in Samoa borders in compressed form which confirms they were imported from overseas. Further importation details are yet to be confirmed.

The CEO/Comptroller of the Ministry of Customs and Revenue will handover the illicit drugs to the Police Commissioner for custody and further investigation.

MCR said in a statement that it will continue to collaborate with the Samoa Police and its International Partners in a joint effort to combat trafficking of illicit narcotics.
