Apia, Samoa – 21 September 2023: The Fire & Emergency Services Authority (FESA) are investigating the cause of the fire that claimed the Sunrise Restaurant overseas employees dwellings at Togafu’afu’a last night.

The fire broke out around 7.00 pm and the strong winds quickly spread the flames and posed danger to the nearby houses that include the Harvest Centre Church.

There is no official statement from FESA as to what caused the fire but they have been commended for their quick action which saved the neighbouring houses and businesses around the crowded area.

This is the second major fire around the same area this month.

Last week, a major fire destroyed Maria’s Pharmacy and the Talofa Airways Company offices as well as part of the adjacent TV3 studios at Taufusi.

FESA has confirmed that an electrical problem was the cause of last week’s blaze.
