Four seriously injured in bus accident at Malifa this morning

Apia, Samoa – 02 October 2023: Four passengers are fighting for their lives at the national hospital from injuries sustained when the Laumosooi Transport bus crashed and landed on its roof close to the Malifa four corners lights during the busy morning traffic.

The Deputy Police Commissioner Papalii Monalisa Keti confirmed that among those seriously injured is a police woman.

She said of the 27 passengers of the Laumosooi bus were rushed to the hospital after the accident, four are serious and most have been treated and released.

A video clip of the accident shows the bus coming downwards from Vailima, crashing into an oncoming red SUV and pushing it against a roadside fence before the bus overturned and landed on its roof.

The accident happened during the busy morning traffic and several witnesses claimed the bus was speeding.

It is not the first time a Laumosooi bus has been involved in road accidents with pervious accidents questioning the safety of wooden made buses that disintegrate into pieces upon impact like what happened to the bus involved in this morning’s accident.
