Minister Reminds Staff of their Calling to Serve as Public Servants

Apia, Samoa – 18 January 2024: The Minister for Women Community & Social Development (MWCSD) and Bureau of Statistics, Mulipola Anarosa Ale Molio’o has reminded her staff of their calling to serve the people of Samoa,

When Government returned to work last week after the festive season holidays, the Ministry held a prayer service to start the year’s work and the Minister encouraged and reminded staff of the important aspects of their duties as public servants.

“I remind you of your calling and oath to serve as a public servant,” said Mulipola.

She further reminded them of the public servants guidelines that must be abided and values to be held at the highest esteem.

“I remind you not to be biased, to treat all individuals equally including people with disability, honesty, not to serve for your own purpose, to be a good example for your colleagues and to love your country,” said Mulipola,

She said there will be challenges but the important aspect is that they are ready to tackle any challenges they may confront along the way.

Important connection with the community
The Minister also acknowledged the vital work of the Bureau of Statistics also under her portfolio.

She also reminded them of the vital role the Bureau plays within the development of Government policies and the whole country.

She said the Ministry is the point of connection with the community in all developments as the Bureau collects and compile correct data and statistics for Government to base their development, social and economic policies for the country.

“The success in achieving Government’s goals and priorities set out in the Strategy for Development rely on the public servants, so I call on our Ministry and Bureau staff to take note of the importance of your calling to provide timely and committed service for our people,” she urged.

The Ministry of Women and Social Development is one of the major government ministries providing critical service to address social and human development and is in charge of the Governments $51million annual Village Development project and handles issues pertaining to Women, Youth, Social and Human Development, people with Disabilities and the Non Governmental Organisations.
