Diesel and kerosene retail prices drop for May

Apia, SAMOA – 01 May 2024 – Diesel retail price has dropped by 7 sene and kerosene by 3.1 sene in the new prices announced by the Ministry of Finance last night for month of May.

Diesel now sells at $3.45 a litre from $3.52 last month and kerosene at $3.05 from $3.08 in last month’s prices.

Petrol however increases by 1 sene and now sells at $3.36 a litre for May.

A Ministry statement said the Russia/Ukraine war and ongoing and increasing tensions in the middle Eat combine to create uncertainty regarding the security of crude oil supplies.

A Ministry of Finance comparative prices show that Samoa prices are the same and cheaper than the current prices of the same products in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.
