Digicel Samoa 5G goes live in Apia CBD
Apia, Samoa – 09 July 2024 – Digicel Samoa has announced a significant milestone with five 5G sites now going live in the Apia CBD, kicking off its 5G rollout and offering customers the opportunity to connect to 5G.
A company statement said that Samoan customers with compatible 5G devices in and around the Levili Data Centre, FMFMII, NFP building, Tatte building and Frankie mall will be among the first in Samoa to experience the power of 5G.
“We are thrilled to be the first mobile network in Samoa to go live with 5G. We’re building on the strong foundation of our 4G network to usher in a new era of connectivity with 5G,” said Digicel Samoa CEO, Anthony Seuseu.
“This launch isn’t just about faster speeds; it’s about delivering an exceptional experience for our customers in Samoa. The launch of 5G opens a new chapter of possibility, and we’re committed to continuously improving our network so that our customers can benefit from this transformative technology,” said Seuseu.
The statement said that customers with compatible 5G devices will be able to access faster speeds than their current 4G, enabling superior streaming, lightning-fast downloads and an enhanced gaming experience.
The statement went on to say that initial test results at the new 5G sites boasted average speeds of a staggering 550-600Mbps, with the full potential reaching up to 1Gbps (speeds may vary due to factors such as location, distance from the mobile tower, local conditions, concurrent users, hardware and software configuration and download/upload destination. In non-5G coverage areas, you’ll automatically switch to our 4G or 3G).
“This launch is more than just a technological advancement, it’s a testament to Digicel Samoa’s commitment to providing customers with a great mobile experience.”
