New Miss Samoa’s grace and strength to honour the legacy of the crown

Apia, Samoa – 9 September 2024 – The vibrant atmosphere of the Miss Samoa 2024 crowning night on 7 September captivated the audience as fifteen powerful contestants showcased their talents. Litara Ieremia Allan emerged victorious, carrying forward a legacy that inspires both pride and purpose.

The highly anticipated Miss Samoa 2024 crowning night was under the captivating theme “Alofa i la’u Samoa Matalasi.” This year’s event presented an extraordinary showcase featuring a record fifteen courageous contestants, each representing their dreams, aspirations, and cultural roots. As a journalist and proud Tamaitai Samoa, it was my first time to witness an evening filled with beauty, talent, and heartfelt emotion.

The Onomea Production Team, who took over the reins of the Miss Samoa Pageant last year, successfully elevated the event’s profile. Their meticulous planning and creative vision resulted in a pageant experience that was not only dazzling but also meaningful.

Following their successful debut with Fuatino Moemoana Safa’ato’a Schwenke crowned as Miss Samoa in 2023, they continued to push boundaries in their second effort this year.

From the opening performance to the final crowning moment, it was evident that this was more than just a competition; it was a celebration of Samoan culture, beauty, grace, women strength and sisterhood.

The outgoing Miss Samoa, Moemoana Safa’ato’a Schwenke, served as an exemplary figure throughout the evening. Her poise and grace were matched only by her words of encouragement for the new queen: “May you continue to honour the sacred legacy of this title and crown.”

Sponsored by Impact Services, Litara Ieremia Allan performance stood out in a field of exceptional talent. Her unique blend of elegance and charisma ignited the crowd every time she graced the stage.

The 25 year old teacher at Manurewa High in Auckland is the daughter of Samoan mother Wanda Ieremia and David Allan from South Africa and she expressed her commitment to serve the community with passion and dignity.

She won seven out of eight categories including the Best Siva Samoa, Best Talent, Best Sarong, Best Creative Coconut, Best Interview, Miss Photogenic and Miss Digicel Internet.

The Puletasi went to Miss Samoa Victoria Incorporated, Chantelle Tautunuafatasi.

The judges praised all contestants for their brilliance across various categories, affirming that every participant’s journey was worthy of recognition. The hosting team seamlessly engaged the audience, enhancing an already electrifying environment.

As we bid farewell to Moemoana’s reign with fond memories, we embrace Litara as our new beacon of hope and representational beauty. The night was not just about crowns; it was a celebration of resilience, culture, and unity—elements that define what it means to be a Tamaitai Samoa.

As my first time in this graceful event, it was certainly a heartfelt celebration for me.

With cheers echoing long after the final curtain, it is clear that the new Miss Samoa will continue to carry Samoa with grace and strength that embodies what it is to be a Samoa woman and to rise prominently on both the local and international stages.
