In a special ceremony held at the Maota at Faletele, Maninoa, Siumu, the cheque was presented by Samoa Commercial Bank Director/Deputy General Manager Jordan Ah Liki with Director/lawyer Leota Susana and IT Manager and spokesperson, Fuimaono Vaea.
The donation was in response to a request for assistance from the village and Siumu welcomed the Banks management in an Ava ceremony represented by the village High Chief Atanoa Tusi, the Member of Parliament Tu’u’u Anasi’i Leota and various members of the Village Council and women leaders.
“This donation is not just financial; it’s a testament to our partnership with SCB and their commitment to supporting local communities,” said the Siumu MP.
Village matai Su’a Logopaauga Faate’a, said, “Today is a day of thanksgiving. We are grateful that Samoa Commercial Bank accepted our request for assistance.”
The funds will be utilized for the constituency’s beautification efforts in anticipation of the visit from British royalty who will reside at the Sinalei Resort and where the Village Council will assist police with security.
Su’a emphasized the importance of presenting a beautiful village to honour their esteemed guests, stating, “We want everything to look good before our guests arrive.”
Siumu is but one of the national efforts by the Village Councils around the country who have been proactive in their beautification efforts in preparation for the CHOGM guests arrival and some sought corporate assistance to help in their initiatives.
SCB spokesman, Fuimaono Vaea told the village chiefs that the donation is the beginning of their partnership going forward and reflects a growing trend of corporate social responsibility within the banking sector in Samoa.
As preparations ramp up for GHOGM, both residents and officials are optimistic about the positive impact such contributions will have on the constituency’s social development and reputation.
