New Satuiatua Multipurpose Hall Opens
Apia, Samoa – 01 October 2024 – The Satuiatua Multipurpose Hall was officially opened by the districts Member of Parliament, Afioga Mulipola Anarosa Ale-Molio’o last Friday 27 September 2024.
The Hall includes wheelchair access, 2 bathrooms and a kitchenette and designed to be inclusive and accessible by all people(s), cost SAT321, 991.71.
The hall is located on land donated by the Satuiatua Methodist Church and the dedication ceremony was led by Rev. Esekielu Alaiva’a and witnessed by close to a 100 village members and guests.
Speaking at the opening, the Minister of Women, Community & Social Development (MWCSD), congratulated all parties involved, thanking in particular the village council of Satuiatua for their perseverance in seeing the project through.
Mulipola stressed the Government’s support in building resilience within villages and saw this as a perfect example of the push for self-reliance and sustainability.
According to Leilua Tutogi Mailei, a senior Matai of the Satuiatua Village Council, the hall is available to be used for church and village functions as well as government consultations and seminars. She noted there were not many venues large enough to host these types of events in Satuiatua, so the village council decided to pursue the construction of such a hall, to cater for these needs.
“The hall will also be available to be hired out to anyone interested as an income-generating activity for the village and its partners as a way of sustaining and maintaining its upkeep.”
The project was funded through $100, 000 under the 1Million Tala District Development Project; the Village Council $41,900; Women’s Village Committee $20,000; Methodist Church $20,000 and the rest funded by individuals and families of the village.
