SUNGO re-elects President Lavea Peseta Nafoi

SUNGO members after last weeks' Annual General Meeting

Apia, Samoa – 02 December 2024 – The Samoa Umbrella for Non-Governmental Organizations (SUNGO) re-elected President Lavea Peseta Lua Nafoi in last Fridays Annual General Meeting with a strong turnout and robust participation from Civil Society Organizations both in Upolu and Savaii.

The meeting proceeded smoothly, following a well-structured agenda that included comprehensive discussions on key issues affecting the organization. Attendees engaged in productive dialogue, ensuring all agenda items were thoroughly addressed.

SUNGO members re-elected Lavea Peseta Lua Nafoi from the Tulaele CCCS Youth as the National President, Lealailepule Wayne Petaia of the Alii & Faipule Vaitele Tai was elected as Treasurer, and Ms. Funemalafai Ono Fuatai from the Samoa Institute of Directors was elected as Secretary for the Executive Council for the 2025-2027 term.

In a statement after the meeting, “SUNGO extended its sincere gratitude to all attendees for their active participation and continued commitment to the organization’s mission. The successful AGM marks a significant milestone in our collective efforts to strengthen the civil society sector in Samoa.”
