Three violent deaths over the Easter Weekend

Apia, Samoa – 22 April 2025 – Police have confirmed three deaths in three separate incidents over the Easter weekend. According to a police report, a 27-year-old man died from self-inflicted wounds early Sunday morning at Sale’imoa.
The man is from Toamua and resides at Sale’imoa with his wife and children. His family believes foul play was involved and are calling for a postmortem.
Police are also investigating the death of a 14-year-old girl with disability who allegedly died from serious wounds suspected to be from a sharp object.
Police said the deceased’s family found her dead on Saturday and police are holding a relative in custody as suspect in her death.
In a separate incident at Falelauniu, a young mother died from serious wounds and was treated at the Motootua hospital and she passed away in the weekend.
Her husband is in police custody and charged with alleged murder, grievous bodily harm and armed with a dangerous weapon.
Police are continuing their investigations into these separate incidents.
