Apia, Samoa – 14 August 2025: The Electoral Commissioner Toleafoa Tuiafelolo John Stanley has confirmed that 101,981 voters are cleared to vote in the 29 August 2025 upcoming election.
The final number was confirmed after the removal of the names of the deceased and those who have moved abroad and the inclusion of 16 Falealupo constituency voters cleared after the challenge against their eligibility was withdrawn.
Toleafoa said that 10,000 voters registered online and the majority are locals and 400 from abroad.
For pre-polling on 27 August, one polling booth will be opened at all 51 constituencies.
Voters will also be able to cast their votes at any polling booth if they cannot travel to where they are registered and such will be counted as special votes.
All district votes will be counted at the polling booths at the close of election on 29 August 2025 and special votes will only be opened at the Electoral Office at Tuana’imato when the official count begins.
Cut off time for removing of nomination
Meanwhile, cut off time for any candidate to withdraw is at 12.00 today and the final list of candidates will be finalised this Friday evening after the court delivers its decision on several electoral challenges.
According to Toleafoa, the preparations for the elections are running smoothly and training for election scrutineers is already underway for Savaii and for Upolu on Saturday.
