PM sends well wishes to Toa Samoa & Manu Samoa
7 November 2025 – Prime Minister, Laaulialemalietoa Leuatea Polataivao Fosi has sent messages of support and well wishes to Samoa’s two national teams playing vital games this weekend.
Toa Samoa is chasing an historic Pacific Championships title against the New Zealand Kiwis on Sunday at the CommBank Stadium in Sydney after a close defeat in the first round.
To the Toa Samoa Coach Benn Gardiner, Co-Captains Peseta-Tamalelagi Junior Paulo, Unasa Jarome Luai and Toa Samoa Team, the Prime Minister said:
“As you prepare for the final battle this Sunday against the New Zealand Kiwis, I extend, on behalf of the Government and the people of Samoa, our heartfelt best wishes and unwavering support.
“Your journey to this moment has been one of resilience, discipline, and faith. You have carried the hopes of Samoa with pride and honour, showing the world the strength, humility, and unity that define Toa Samoa.
“Play with courage, intelligence, and the unshakable belief that you represent more than a team – you represent a Nation. Play for your families, your supporters, and for Samoa.
“The prayers and pride of our people will surround you as you take the field. Go forth with faith and courage, Toa Samoa, and may God’s hand guide you in every moment.”
Toa Samoa coach Ben Gardiner has kept most of the same line-up that secured victory at Suncorp Stadium saying “We’ve had a great build-up and the boys are ready. This is a proud moment for Samoa and we’ll give it everything.”
Meanwhile, Manu Samoa is playing Brazil in Dubai in the teams’ final chance to qualify and make the last remaining spot for World Cup 2027 in Australia.
Three matches over 10 days will decide whether Manu Samoa miss a World Cup for the first time since their debut appearance back in 1991, or not.
Samoa could have sealed their place with a win over Chile last month, but a weakened team due to player availability, failed to pass that test.
That result prompted former captain Filipo Levi to make a personal appeal ahead of the team’s last chance mission, and some big names have certainly turned up in Dubai.
