Su’a Hellene Wallwork steps down as contract as AG concludes today.

Apia, Samoa – 13 January 2026 – The Office of the Attorney General today hosted a farewell Faigalotu for Madam Attorney General, Su’a Hellene Wallwork at its office in the TATTE Building, marking the end of her contract which concludes today. Su’a is not reapplying for the position.

Staff and colleagues gathered to acknowledge her service and contributions during a particularly demanding period in Samoa’s recent history.

Su’a served as Attorney General through one of the most politically challenging times for the country, including the constitutional and political impasse that followed the 2021 general election.

During that period, her office played a critical role in providing legal advice and guidance amid heightened political tensions, court proceedings and questions surrounding the interpretation of constitutional processes. Her leadership was widely regarded as central to maintaining the rule of law and institutional stability during a time of national uncertainty.

Appointed to the role with a strong background in law and public service, Su’a oversaw key legal reforms and strengthened the operations of the Attorney General’s Office, while supporting staff through unprecedented public scrutiny and pressure.

Colleagues acknowledged her professionalism, resilience and commitment to upholding the independence of the office.
