Nominations Open for Samoa’s Honours Awards 2026

Apia, SAMOA – 12 February 2026 – The Ministry of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (MPMC) has opened applications and nominations for Samoa’s prestigious Awards and Honours, in line with the Awards and Honours Act 1999.

These awards are intended to recognize and celebrate individuals who have made significant and outstanding contributions to the development and progress of Samoa.

The awards cover a wide range of areas, including:

  • Government and public service
  • Religious leadership and contributions
  • Community development and volunteer work
  • Education and academic achievements
  • Preservation and promotion of Samoan culture and traditions

The Ministry has advised that application forms, along with full eligibility requirements, can be obtained from the main offices of the Ministry of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, located on the 4th Floor of the FMFM II Building, 4 Apia City Boulevard and Eleele Fou. Applicants may also access the forms and detailed information through the Ministry’s official website: www.mpmc.gov.ws.

All applications must be submitted by Monday, 9 March 2026, and the public is strongly encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to nominate those individuals who have shown exemplary service and dedication to the nation.

The Chief Executive of the Ministry, Agafili Tomaimanō Shem Leo emphasized the importance of acknowledging, respecting, and valuing the contributions of Samoan citizens

He noted that recognizing these achievements not only honours the individuals themselves but also inspires others to contribute to the nation’s continued growth and success.

The awards serve as a vital reminder of the value of selfless service and the importance of celebrating those whose efforts make a real difference in the lives of Samoans and the progress of the country.

The Honours Awards 2026 will be part of the 3 days of this years’ independence celebrations in June.
