Tagaloa Eddie Wilson Appointed Chairman of SNPF
Apia, SAMOA – 18 February 2026 – Tagaloa Tautaituasivi Eddie Wilson, a senior Samoan leader with more than 35 years of distinguished service in governance, finance, economic development and institutional leadership, has been appointed Chairman of Samoa National Provident Fund.
The appointment was approved by Cabinet last week. Tagaloa is widely recognised for his role in establishing national institutions, advising Government at senior levels, and leading strategic reforms across both public and private sector systems.
A Chartered Accountant and economist, Mr Wilson brings deep expertise in fiduciary oversight, financial stewardship, governance, audit, risk management, investment evaluation, and public accountability — competencies central to the role of Chairman of the Samoa National Provident Fund.
He is the Managing Partner of E.L. Wilson & Associates, Chartered Accountants, one of Samoa’s longest-established professional advisory firms, and the Founder and Chairman of the Wilex Samoa Group, a pioneering locally owned export manufacturing enterprise recognised across the Pacific for innovation in value-added agriculture and manufacturing.
Mr Wilson served as Chairman of the Samoa Trust Estates Corporation (2023) during its transition into the newly legislated Samoa Export Authority (SEA) and was subsequently appointed Interim Chairman of the SEA (2024) to oversee its establishment. He has also assisted Government with the development and establishment of the national District Development Program Framework.
At the regional level, he served as Chairman of the International Kava Executive Council (IKEC), leading successful legal and regulatory advocacy that resulted in the removal of restrictive trade barriers affecting Pacific kava exports in Europe. He further assisted Pacific Island industries to establish regional and international Codex standards for kava and nonu.
Mr Wilson was the longest-serving President of the Samoa Association of Manufacturers Exporters (SAME), having served multiple terms over two decades, and has consistently advocated for private sector development, good governance, and sustainable national growth.
His professional background includes working with the Auckland University to establish the Faculty of Commerce for NUS in 1986, regional audit engagements for international insurance and reinsurance corporations, and extensive experience in business valuation, insolvency and restructuring, as well as advisory work for public bodies and statutory institutions.
He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting, Economics and Law) from the University of Canberra (Australian Government Scholar), postgraduate qualifications in Insolvency and Reconstruction (CPA Australia), and has been a Chartered Accountant with the Samoa Institute of Accountants since 1996.
Mr Wilson is widely respected for his integrity, independence, and lifelong commitment to national service, and brings to the Chairmanship of the Samoa National Provident Fund a strong foundation of governance discipline, financial prudence, and dedication to protecting the long-term interests of members and the people of Samoa.
