Samoa Police Demonstrates Leadership in Integrity and Cyber Safety Initiatives

Apia, SAMOA – 8 May 2026 – Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services (SPPCS) continues to set a high standard for integrity and community safety through proactive measures and innovative programs.

The organization recently showcased its commitment to ethical leadership by conducting drug tests on its senior management team, reaffirming its dedication to transparency and responsible governance.

According to SPPCS, under the new Drug Testing Policy and Procedures 2026, the tests were administered to the Acting Police Commissioner and his executive team, all of whom returned negative results for illegal substances.

The testing process, carried out by the Scientific Research Organisation of Samoa (SROS), adhered to rigorous protocols designed to ensure fairness and accuracy, while the results for other senior officials are still pending.

SPPCS emphasizes that this initiative is part of a broader commitment to uphold ethical standards and maintain public trust.

By proactively screening its senior personnel, the organization aims to reinforce its dedication to integrity and responsible leadership, reassuring the community of its unwavering commitment to transparency and accountability.

In addition to its internal integrity measures, Samoa Police is also making strides in protecting its community from the growing threat of cybercrime.

On 15 May 2026, the organization will host the Greatlight Cyber Safety Concert.

The major event designed to raise awareness, empower youth, and promote responsible online behaviour.

The concert will feature performances by young artists, music, worship, and opportunities for community engagement centered around cyber safety.

This event marks the culmination of 15 years of Cyber Safety Pasifika (CSP), a regional initiative aimed at strengthening cyber security across the Pacific.

SPPCS emphasized the organization is in partnership with the Australian Federal Police, Cyber Safety Pasefika, Hosanna Christian Church Samoa, and the Ministry of Communications & Information Technology Samoa, the concert exemplifies Samoa Police’s leadership in fostering safer digital spaces.
