Former Manu Samoa Coach Guilty on 8 Sexual Related Offences

Apia, SAMOA – 18 May 2026: The former Manu Samoa captain and coach, Mase Mahonri Schwalger was found guilty on 8 sexual related charges by Senior Supreme Court Judge, Vui Clarence Nelson.
The charges include one count of assault with intent to commit sexual act, one count of common assault on two victims and 5 counts of indecent assault.
The victims were 14 and 19 years old at the time of the offence in 2024 while Mase was serving as the teams’ coach.
After police charged him, he resigned from his position in 2025.
Mase was originally charged with 11 charges however, only 8 were proven.
He will be sentenced in June 2026.
