His Majesty King Tupou V1 to preside over USP Graduation

Apia, SAMOA – 28 May 2026 – The Tongan Monarch, His Majesty King Tupou VI will preside over the University of the South Pacific’s graduation tomorrow (Friday 29 May) as the Chancellor of regional University.
His Majesty was accorded an official Guard of Honour upon his arrival yesterday at the Faleolo International Airport, reflecting the deep diplomatic and cultural ties shared across the region.
His Majesty was formally received by Samoa’s Deputy Prime Minister, the Honourable Mulipola Anarosa Ale-Molioʻo, alongside the Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Labour (MCIL), the Honourable Fata Ryan Schuster.
As Chancellor, the King will officially confer degrees, diplomas, and certificates on more than 200 graduands.
USP Pro-Chancellor and Chair of Council, the Right Honourable Siosiua ʻUtoikamanu, said His Majesty’s presence carried deep significance for both the University and the wider region as USP enters a new phase of strategic renewal.
Looking ahead to the graduation, the Pro-Chancellor said, “we look forward to the upcoming graduation ceremony and the opportunity to celebrate the success of our students with their families – their success is our region’s success.”
The graduation ceremony will be held at the Apia Football Complex on Friday 29 May 2026.
