Public Service Commission Celebrates Workforce Development Milestones
The Public Service Commission of Samoa is pleased to acknowledge the significant progress made in workforce development, reflecting the combined efforts of its valued development partners in supporting a skilled and capable workforce for Samoa.
The Public Service Commission extends its sincere appreciation to His Excellency, Will Robinson, and the Government of Australia for its generous financial support through the Samoa Governance for Economic Growth Tautai Programme, which has been instrumental in expanding access to high-quality education and training.
This partnership has enabled the implementation of capacity development programs that strengthen professional competencies, support adaptation to evolving governance challenges, and contribute to the achievement of national development priorities. These opportunities are open not only to the public sector, but also to the private sector, NGOs, and District Development Offices.
The Commission equally recognises the valuable contributions of its other development partners, whose longstanding and ongoing support continue to play a vital role in building a capable, resilient, and forward-looking workforce for Samoa.
A significant milestone was recently achieved, with 109 officials graduating at the University of the South Pacific graduation ceremony with qualifications in Human Resources Management, Public Sector Management, and Procurement & Supply.
These programs remain ongoing, with new cohorts currently in progress for the 2025 academic year. This is in addition to the Executive Leadership Programme at the National University of Samoa, from which more than 100 current and emerging leaders have graduated across the last two cohorts.
The Public Service Commission looks forward to deepening its collaborations with all development partners in advancing the recently launched National Workforce Plan, a shared commitment to developing a highly skilled and professional workforce that drives improved service delivery, evidence-based policy making, and the long-term advancement of Samoa.
