Apia, SAMOA – 6 July 2026 – The Australian High Commissioner, His Excellency Will Robinson, has announced that Australia will provide an additional WST$19.2 million (AUD 10 million) in budget support to the Samoan government.

The Australia High Commission clarified that the funds aim to help maintain essential services for Samoan communities during challenging times.

It will support key services such as electricity, education, and healthcare, ensuring that these vital services continue to operate smoothly.

H.E. Will Robinson shared that Samoa, like Australia and many other Pacific countries, is feeling the impact of disruptions in global fuel supply chains.

“We know that increased fuel prices can leave a big hole in the budget. Australia stands with Samoa during these tough times,” he said.

The High Commissioner emphasized the importance of the Pacific family.

“In the Pacific, family is everything … and families show up when it matters most,” he said.

He concluded with a Samoan proverb: “O le tele o lima e māmā ai se ‘avega” which means “With many hands, the burden is lightened when carried together.”
