Apia, SAMOA – 18 July 2026 – The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Seuāmuli Letu’uga Fasi Toma and the Associate Minister, Fiu Fa’aolatane Ponifasio Vasa will travel to Glasgow, Scotland, to attend the Commonwealth Sport Ministers Meeting. The Government Press Secretariat said the Minister will be accompanied by the Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry, Luātua Seumanutafa Semiperive Epati, and the Minister’s son, Mareko Fasi Toma, for this official engagement.
In accordance with Government policy that has been in place for more than 30 years, all official international delegations led by a Minister or Associate Minister are accompanied by the Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry or a representative of the Ministry’s executive management.
Under Government policy governing ministerial travel entitlements, Ministers are entitled to two overseas trips each year during which they may be accompanied by their spouse. In accordance with this entitlement, the Minister’s son is eligible to accompany him on this trip.
Government records of Samoa’s delegations to the Commonwealth Games in 2002, 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2018 show that no delegation during those years comprised fewer than five members. Likewise, the composition of this year’s delegation is consistent with the Government’s established policies.
