Inaugural Aviation Exams sat in Samoa a Success

Apia SAMOA – 28 July 2026 – For the very first time, a Samoan pilot sat his Air Transport Pilots License Law exam in country on Friday 24^th July 2026. The three-hour sitting was held at the Talamua House Building at Togafu’afu’a from 12.30pm to 3.30pm.

The exams were usually sat overseas where the cost of return tickets, accommodation and other expenses were a challenge apart from the exams itself.

After a year of negotiations, the Samoan pilots and Aviation Maintenance Engineers (AME) can now sit the exams in country as Samoa is now added as one of the locations where these exams are available by booking online via the website https://caanz.aspeqexams.com/

More local Aviation Maintenance Engineers (AME) and Pilots who had to travel overseas to sit these exams in the past, are now preparing and looking forward to sitting their exams in country in the coming months.

In an industry where the manpower is slowly aging with shortages of engineers and pilots worldwide, this is an opportunity for young Samoans to take advantage of in the aviation industry.

All exams are New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority (NZCAA) approved under the certifying examination body, Aspeq NZ.
