Peseta’s resignation through a submission from PSC

Apia, SAMOA – 25 August 2026 – The Government of Samoa has clarified that the resignation of the Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Pesetā Noumea Simi was through a submission from the Public Service Commission which was discussed and approved at its recent meeting.

A statement from the Government Press Secretariat said the decision following the submission of Peseta’s resignation should not be interpreted as arising from any speculation or claims regarding the circumstances surrounding her departure.

There had already been a lot of speculation in the media following reports of Peseta’s resignation who has served as public servant for forty years.

The statement said Government respects the confidentiality and integrity of employment matters and will not comment further on unsubstantiated claims or speculation regarding the reasons for Pesetā’s resignation.

Upon the cessation of Pesetā’s employment, applicable resignation and employment benefits as stipulated under the terms and conditions of her employment contract will apply.

The Government acknowledges with gratitude Peseta’s many years of service and contribution to the public service in her previous role in the Finance sector and in her current role as C.E.O. of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

The Government of Samoa wishes Pesetā Noumea Simi well in her future endeavours.
