Deputy Prime Minister Advances Samoa’s Priorities at Pacific Leaders’ Dialogue

Koror, Palau – 2 September 2026 – Samoa is taking an active leadership role in shaping regional responses to issues that matter most to our people and our Pacific.

“Samoa remains committed to advancing practical, people-centred solutions that strengthen our region and deliver real benefits for Pacific communities,” said the Mulipola Anarosa Ale-Molio’o, Deputy Prime Minister during the Leaders Dialogue.

Mulipola outlined Samoa’s practical solutions to strengthen regional cooperation and ensure that Pacific institutions better respond to national priorities. Samoa emphasized four key areas of action: digital and AI governance, renewable energy transition, climate leadership, and stronger regional support mechanisms.

Digital Governance
Samoa called for stronger regional cooperation on digital and AI governance to protect children and older persons online, strengthen data privacy safeguards, and support national efforts to build digital resilience.

Renewable Energy
Samoa emphasized the need for affordable renewable energy solutions that enhance energy security and reduce the economic burden of imported fuel.

Climate Change
Samoa reaffirmed the importance of maintaining the 1.5°C target and ensuring Pacific countries have greater access to climate finance and scientific information needed to strengthen resilience.

Samoa’s participation in the Leaders’ Dialogue reflects the Government’s commitment to ensuring that regional cooperation delivers tangible benefits for Samoa and the Pacific, while advancing the priorities set out in the Pathway for the Development of Samoa 2026–2031.
