Seine Stowers wins Best Overall Female Lifter in Commonwealth & Oceania Cup

Apia, SAMOA – 21 September 2026 – Samoa’s junior weightlifting team has delivered a strong performance at the Oceania Cup International 2026 in Melbourne, Australia.

Leading the team was Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games gold medallist, Seine Stowers, who once again gave an outstanding performance on the international stage.

Seine claimed the Best Overall Female Lifter trophy and earned $2,000 AUD in prize money after her impressive showing at the competition.

She also set two Commonwealth records and two Oceania records.

Stowers led a Samoa IBFC Junior Weightlifting Team that produced several strong individual results throughout the tournament.

Faitasia Seuao impressed in the men’s 85kg category, taking out the division with a strong lifting performance.

Niusila Opeloge also made his mark in Melbourne, smashing the Oceania Youth Record in the men’s 95kg category with a 175kg clean and jerk.

Meanwhile, Sekolastika Isaia produced a perfect performance in the women’s 69kg category, successfully completing all six of her attempts in her first Oceania Cup tournament.

The results capped a high-performing weekend for Samoa’s IBFC Junior Weightlifting Team, with the eight-member squad competing against athletes at the Oceania Cup International in Melbourne.
