Election Official Result to be Handed Today for Head of State’s Endorsement

Apia, Samoa – 05 September 2025: The results of the 2025 elections following yesterday’s final count, will be returned to the Head of State, Tuimalealiifano Vaaletoa Sualauvi 11 today for his endorsement.
At a press conference this morning, the Electoral Commissioner, Toleafoa Tuiafelolo John Stanley said the final count and the results completed within the election and his office is preparing to return the results to the Head of State.
Toleafoa said his office is seeking an appointment with the Head of State for this process to take place.
The senior public servant who has served in various capacities and continuously for 36 years, said he in confident that there is “zero error” in the final result.
The election period which started from the 11 July, ends today, 5 September and the Warrant should be signed by the Head of State and returned by 8 September 2025.
Parliament must meet to form a new government in 45 days or before 13 October 2025.
After the final official count yesterday, the Faatuatua I le Atua Samoa ua Tasi – FAST Party, won convincingly with 30 seats, the Opposition Human Rights Protection Party – HRPP -14, Samoa Uniting Party – SUP led by caretaker Prime Minister – 3 and Independents – 4.
There are five confirmed female candidates: three from FAST, one from HRPP and one from Samoa United Party and as required by law, one more woman member will be needed to make up 10 percent of the 51 seats in parliament.
This will be considered after all election-related court petitions have been settled in court.
