Apia, SAMOA – 22 April 2026: The new Central Bank of Samoa (CBS) building under construction at Ululoloa was supposed to be completed by the end of this month. However, several challenges have delayed the work for the next 6 months.
The Acting Prime Minister, Mulipola Anarosa Ale Molio’o who is also the Minister of the Central Bank of Samoa confirmed that there is on extra cost on the work despite the delay.
“Additional time is needed to ensure the building is constructed properly and the project’s budget remains at ST$31 million, funded by the government,” she said.
The construction is being carried out by APEX Pacific Solutions Ltd. and SUCON Consultancy Ltd. overseeing the project to make sure everything stays on track.
Mulipola said the current CBS building at Matafele is not in a good state hence the need for the new building.
She also confirmed that the government wants to make sure the new building is built to highest standards, even if it takes a little more time, especially that the Central Bank building is a key project to Samoa’s future.
