Police Sector Concludes Elite U.S. Training Program

Apia, SAMOA – 30 June 2026 – The Acting Police Commissioner Leiataua Samuelu Afamasaga officially closed the U.S. Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers Program for the Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services (SPPCS) that focused on saving lives and strengthening community safety.
The training began on 22 June, involved an intensive and high-level course delivered by expert trainers from the United States with participants engaged in rigorous sessions designed to improve their skills and knowledge.
During the closing ceremony, Acting Commissioner Leiataua expressed his heartfelt thanks to the U.S. Government, represented by Chargé d’Affaires Daniel J. Tarapacki.
He appreciated the support and valuable partnership that made this advanced training possible.
Afamasaga also congratulated the participants for their dedication and success in completing the program.
The SPPCS emphasized that it was a specialized, comprehensive course aimed at equipping officers with advanced tactics and skills aligned with international standards.
The training focused on saving lives and strengthening community safety.
By completing this program, local officers now possess enhanced capabilities to better serve and protect the people of Samoa.
