Petroleum Prices up for October
Apia, SAMOA – 01 October 2026 – The petroleum prices all increase for October with diesel recording the highest at 22.6 sene a litre.
The prices issued by the Ministry of Finance last night:
- Petrol: increase by 3.5 sene per litre, from $3.54 to $3.58
- Diesel: increase by 22.6 sene per litre, from $4.22 to $4.44
- Kerosene: increase by 12.5 sene per litre, from $3.78 to $3.90
The Ministry says the October Retail Prices are based on Cargo loading in August delivered to Samoa in September 2026.
The Iran/US conflict continue to impact the petroleum products prices and the consequential disruption of crude oil supplies via the Straits of Hormuz has now spread to the Yemen with the Iran-backed Houthi rebels seizing key territory along the country’s Red Sea coast.
New concerns are now being expressed about the security in the Bah el-Mandeb Strait, a critical global shipping route from the Red Sea. Crude and refined product prices are forecast to continue at current levels.
