{"id":11623,"date":"2022-05-28T15:22:24","date_gmt":"2022-05-28T02:22:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/talamua.com\/?p=11623"},"modified":"2022-05-28T15:22:24","modified_gmt":"2022-05-28T02:22:24","slug":"future-prosperity-lies-within-the-village-land-and-sea","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/talamua.com\/?p=11623","title":{"rendered":"Future Prosperity Lies within the Village Land and Sea"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>28 MAY 2022:<\/strong> The farming and fishing community of Gagaifolevao, Lefaga displayed the products of its first harvest in its <strong>Talomua<\/strong> on Friday 27<sup>th<\/sup> May 2022 based on the theme, <em>Sami ma le Vao o le Lumanai Manuia lea o le Afioaga <\/em>\u2013 <strong>Future Prosperity lies within the Village Land and Sea<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The event was organized by the village Talomua Committee for the farmers and fishers to showcase a variety of agriculture and fisheries produce including root and tree crops, vegetables and fruits, fish and giant clams, as well as livestock.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the Gagaifolevao Women\u2019s Group <em>&#8211; Faletua &amp; Tausi ma Sa\u2019oao &amp; Tamaita\u2019i,<\/em> displayed fine mats <em>&#8211; Ie toga<\/em> and handicrafts as part of this year\u2019s Talomua celebration.<\/p>\n<p>The National Anthem was played as the Samoan flag was raised to start off the Talomua program, followed by formalities of a prayer service, opening remarks and keynote address.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Honourable La\u2019aulialemalietoa Leuatea Polataivao Fosi Schmidt along with the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Labour, Honourable Leatinu\u2019u Wayne Fong, Member of Parliament of Lefaga and Faleaseela, Associate Ministers and Executive Management of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries attended the day\u2019s festivities.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_11625\" style=\"width: 867px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11625\" class=\"wp-image-11625\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/talamua.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Gagaifo-Talomua2.jpg?resize=740%2C493&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Gagaifo Talomua2\" width=\"740\" height=\"493\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/talamua.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Gagaifo-Talomua2.jpg?w=657&amp;ssl=1 657w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/talamua.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Gagaifo-Talomua2.jpg?resize=300%2C200&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-11625\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Minister of Agriculture, Laaulialemalietoa Leuatea Polataivao, the Lefaga MP Masinalupe Makesi and members of the Gagaifo, Lefaga Talomua Organising Committee.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Chairman of the Gagaifolevao Talomua Organising Committee, Su\u2019a John Pasina welcomed and thanked the government on behalf of the village for their continued support throughout the years.<\/p>\n<p>Su\u2019a Faiaoga Tanielu, a member of the Committee assured of the village support of the new initiatives by the Government for village and community developments. Su\u2019a Tanielu voiced the need by their village fishermen to enable fishing and other related development activities beyond the reef through proper administrative structures.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister of Agriculture &amp; Fisheries, La\u2019aulialemalietoa congratulated the organizing committee and residents of Gagaifolevao for putting together a remarkable event. He also commended the support and valuable contribution by the Women\u2019s committee.
