{"id":9072,"date":"2022-01-28T12:53:39","date_gmt":"2022-01-27T22:53:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/box5635.temp.domains\/~talamuac\/?p=9072"},"modified":"2023-05-27T13:28:16","modified_gmt":"2023-05-27T00:28:16","slug":"covid-19-update-samoa-changes-to-alert-level-2-at-6pm-tonight","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/talamua.com\/?p=9072","title":{"rendered":"COVID-19 UPDATE: Samoa changes to Alert Level 2 at 6pm tonight"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote>\n<h4>Government services and Businesses reopen at the lifting of the nationwide lockdown as of 6pm tonight.<\/h4>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>By Talaia Mika<\/p>\n<p><strong>APIA, SAMOA \u2013 28 JANUARY 2022: <\/strong>Samoa will move to Covid-19 Alert Level 2 or Orange from the current Level 3 &#8211; Red which is High Risk, as of 6pm this evening.<\/p>\n<p>The changes were announced by the Prime Minister Fiam\u0113 Naomi Mata\u2019afa at a press conference this morning. \u201cIn reviewing the response to Covid 19, and considering that none of the frontliners and staff is affected, except for the 5 nurses in the isolation ward at Moto\u2019otua, Cabinet has endorsed to change our responses to Covid-19 to Alert Level 2 or Orange from the current Level 3 &#8211; Red which is High Risk,\u201d announced the Prime Minister.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLevel 2 is activated upon confirmation that any affected person is isolated in a controlled quarantine site so there is no community transmission.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Accordingly, Cabinet has reviewed the SOE Orders as follows:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Level 2 Orange Covid-19 Response;<\/li>\n<li>Reopen work for Businesses and Government services;<\/li>\n<li>Public gatherings are allowed to be kept at 30 people;<\/li>\n<li>Permit only Cargo flights into and out of Samoa until further notice;<\/li>\n<li>Suspension of inbound Repatriation flights, Seasonal work flights and outbound passenger service flights until further notice;<\/li>\n<li>Continue regular inter-island ferry services between Upolu &amp; Savaii but maintain social distancing;<\/li>\n<li>Container ships and Oil Tankers will be allowed to berth at Matautu wharf to ensure adequate food and fuel supply chains for Samoa;<\/li>\n<li>Public transportation restricted to Taxis of 4 passengers and 20 passengers per bus;<\/li>\n<li>School openings to be suspended but encourage use of virtual and e-learning platforms;<\/li>\n<li>12 year olds and under are prohibited from public places;<\/li>\n<li>All other orders in SOE orders 63 remain.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>PUBLIC HEALTH CONDITIONS<br \/>\n<\/strong>The Public Health conditions to be observed during Level 2 Alert are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The mandatory wearing of facial masks, mandatory showing of Vaccination Cards, Social Distancing, Vaccination roll out for those not yet vaccinated nor completed dosage;<\/li>\n<li>Regular PCR testing for people in quarantine and roll out for Booster doses;<\/li>\n<li>Hope to start the Paediatric Vaccinations when available.<\/li>\n<li>These changes will come into effect with the suspension of the current nationwide lockdown at 6pm this evening and will be reviewed after two weeks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cThese changes are necessary to ensure that our country is protected and that the safety and security of our people is maintained,\u201d said the Prime Minister.<\/p>\n<p>Samoa has twenty-seven (27) positive cases of Covid-19 in isolation with six confirmed as Omicron variant and one of the Delta variant.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"740\" height=\"417\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/AK8fhpgNm7c?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-NZ&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Government services and Businesses reopen at the lifting of the nationwide lockdown as of 6pm tonight.
