{"id":9770,"date":"2022-03-07T23:59:25","date_gmt":"2022-03-07T09:59:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/talamua.com\/?p=9770"},"modified":"2022-03-08T13:26:50","modified_gmt":"2022-03-07T23:26:50","slug":"senior-public-servant-denies-drugs-charges-and-other-court-stories","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/talamua.com\/?p=9770","title":{"rendered":"Senior Public Servant Denies Drugs Charges and other court stories"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Lagi Keresoma<\/p>\n<p><strong>APIA, SAMOA \u2013 07 MARCH 2022:<\/strong> The Deputy Electoral Commissioner, Afualo Daryl Mapu has pleaded not guilty to 6 charges relating to drugs.<\/p>\n<p>His plea was entered by his lawyer Su\u2019a Leone Mailo in Court today and the hearing has been set to be heard together with his female co-defender on 7 June 2022.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_9773\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9773\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/talamua.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Afualo-Daryl-Mapu.jpg?resize=390%2C493&#038;ssl=1\" class=\"wp-image-9773\" alt=\"Afualo Daryl Mapu\" width=\"390\" height=\"493\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/talamua.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Afualo-Daryl-Mapu.jpg?w=442&amp;ssl=1 442w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/talamua.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Afualo-Daryl-Mapu.jpg?resize=237%2C300&amp;ssl=1 237w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 390px) 100vw, 390px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-9773\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Afualo Daryl Mapu facing six drugs charges.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Afualo and co-defender were arrested in a police raid in December 2021 at Nu\u2019u Fou where police confiscated illegal weapons, money, drug utensils and a large quantity of methamphetamine.<\/p>\n<p>He is facing charges of the possession of narcotics, utensils, an unlicensed firearm, unlawful ammunition, possession of ammunition without a permit and possession of an unlawful weapon.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Teenager accused of arson out on bail<br \/>\n<\/strong>A 17 year old male charged with arson for the fire that destroyed a petrol pump at Saanapu village two weeks ago, has been released on bail.<\/p>\n<p>Penerose Peneueta\u2019s bail conditions include surrendering all his travel documents to the Court Registrar and report to the Poutasi police station every Friday.<\/p>\n<p>He is also ordered to stay away from any petrol station, not to contact prosecution witnesses or reoffend while out on bail.<\/p>\n<p>The charge stemmed from an incident two weeks ago at the Saanapu petrol station where Penerose is accused of lighting a container that was being filled with petrol and caused a fire that destroyed the petrol station.<\/p>\n<p>The incident was caught on video which was presented to police.<\/p>\n<p>His lawyer Quentin Sauaga informed the Court that his client\u2019s family had already presented a traditional apology to the owner of the gas station and the apology was accepted by the owner.<\/p>\n<p>Penerose has yet to enter a plea and the matter will be recalled next week.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Lagi Keresoma APIA, SAMOA \u2013 07 MARCH 2022: The Deputy Electoral Commissioner, Afualo Daryl Mapu has pleaded not guilty to 6 charges relating to drugs.
