“Vote for Change” – New Political Party

APIA, SAMOA – 09 JULY 2020:  A new political party to be launched before the end of the month will be out to Vote for a Change of Government.

At a press conference yesterday, former Speaker and Member of Parliament for Gagaifomauga No.3. La’aulialemalietoa Leuatea Polata’ivao Schmidt confirmed the new party’s slogan saying more details will be announced before the end of the month.

Laauli did not elaborate on the name of the party or its members as they are still in the process of finalising everything before the official launch, but did confirm the party’s slogan “Vote for Change”.

“But reporters noted the name Fa’avae i le Atua Samoa Tuto’atasi has been on the TV screen in the background since 01 June when La’auli announced that he was becoming an Independent in the House. There were also sample posters in the background.”

“Before the end of the month, we will register the party officially and we will announce the party’s manifesto and goals then,” said La’auli.

He also emphasized that the party will only be registered after seeking the views of the traditional power brokers Puleono of Salafai and Tumua in Upolu.

The establishment of the party was the wish of his constituency after La’auli left the Human Rights Protection Party – HRPP last month.

La’auli’s family and constituency have been one of the founding members of the ruling HRPP and have been influential in the party’s political success to date.

La’auli is confident that God will provide members and leadership for the new party, “a new ship we as a nation need to lift together and why the country must Vote for Change come April 2021.”
