APIA SAMOA – 29 JANUARY 2022: The National Emergency Operations Committee (NEOC) latest Situational Report issued this evening assures that currently, there is no evidence of a Covid-19 community transmission.

The report comes 24 hours after Samoa moved from Level 3 Red Alert to Level 2 Orange as of 6pm last night and relaxing of lockdown conditions including the opening of shops, markets and freer movement of the public.

“As of this afternoon, the Ministry of Health confirmed that Samoa remains at 27 positive cases. Subsequently, all the 301 people including passengers, front liners and the 27 in controlled isolation remain asymptomatic without any symptoms,” said the report.

“The 3rd round of COVID-19 tests of all front-liners in quarantine have returned negative. The same negative results were also confirmed for the rest of passengers-all negative.

“Currently there is no evidence of a community transmission,” said NEOC.
