Savalenoa Mareva Betham-Annandale is Samoa’s new Attorney General.

APIA, SAMOA – 22 JULY 2020: The Samoa Law Society’s former President, Savalenoa Mareva Betham-Annandale is Samoa’s new Attorney General.

The appointment was confirmed by Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi on his weekly radio program on Talofa FM today.

He said 6 applied for the position and the interviewng panel recommended Savalenoa. He stated that such appointment is made with the highest regard to the persons qualifications and character, as the top legal advisor to Government.

Savalenoa is a partner of the Annandale-Betham Law Firm and the second Samoan woman to be appointed to the Attorney Generals’ position.

She is a Legislative Drafter, Legal & Policy Consultant, Litigator and Mediator.

She takes over the position that has been vacant for several months when Lemalu Herman Retzlaff resigned in late 2019.
