BlueWave Wireless Launches Wifi Services in Savaii
The BlueWave Wireless Wifi service is launched by Deacon Semau Ne’emia of the Patamea CCCS Church.
APIA SAMOA – 09 FEBRUARY 2021: High speed internet connection are now available to underserved village communities in Savaii thanks to the BlueWave Wireless community service launched last Saturday.
The Wifi Services launched at the isolated inland village of Patamea on Savaii Island after satisfying all the necessary requirements of the Office of the Regulator (OOTR) to roll out its business commercial WIFI services throughout Samoa.
The Regulator, Lematua Gisa Fuatai Purcell announced in a press release on 20 January 2021 that her office had completed its evaluation and “OOTR wishes BlueWave all the best with its venture.”
BlueWaves’ Wifi Service was officially launched and blessed by Reverend Faitua Tanielu Tupuse of the Patamea Congregational Christian Church and the ribbon cut by Deacon Semau Neemia.
Chief Operating Officer for BlueWave Wireless, Togisala Tony Sua Leota said, “The significance of Patamea being chosen for the launch is that it is a remote village situated inland, away from the coast, which has experienced internet connectivity issues. We will continue to focus on providing internet connection to underserved village communities in Samoa with little to no connectivity.
“In early 2020, we engaged with Kacific Satellite to provide a Satellite WiFi network solution which can deliver high speed connectivity for consumer usage in under-served rural and remote areas of Samoa,” said Togisala Tony Sua Leota.
“BlueWave Wireless is a proud Samoan owned and managed Telecommunications Company and so today’s announcement fulfils the beginning of BlueWave’s vision to bring fast, high-quality broadband access at an affordable cost to rural and remote areas of Samoa, bridging the digital divide for rural village communities of Samoa.
“We are extremely pleased to be able to deliver high quality, accessible and affordable WIFI services to households, churches, and businesses, starting in Savaii, and we very much look forward to extending this to the whole of Samoa.
“We will be rolling out coverage to specific areas in Savaii during the month of February so you can now purchase scratch cards from local stores within the BlueWave coverage areas. To find out the coverage area locations, please check the BlueWave Website and Facebook pages.
“The team at BlueWave Wireless would like to acknowledge and thank Madam Regulator, Afioga Lematua Gisa Fuatai Purcell, for having an open mind to working with a local ISP company like us during this pandemic, and we look forward to working closely with her and the Office of the Regulator to ensure we have full internet coverage and bridge the digital divide for the people of Samoa,” said Togisala Tony Sua Leota.
