Former Customs Officer pleads not guilty to drugs charge

APIA, 26 FEBURARY 2021: A former Customs Officer has pleaded not guilty to one charge of illegal importation of drugs, namely methamphetamine.

The charge stems from a shipment addressed to Pueleo Sefululua Peseta which was intercepted by Customs at the Apia wharf and referred to police officers earlier this month.

The matter has been referred to the District Court.

About 900 grams of methamphetamine (ICE) were found stacked inside boxes of cereal and other items.

Peseta is on bail to reappear in court on 17 June.
