Police ceases sale of firearms and ammunitions for election safety

Some illegal guns turned in during a recent gun amnesty.

APIA, 09 MARCH 2021: Police is ceasing all sales and any transactions for firearms and ammunitions as of today until further notice.

Police Commissioner, Fuiavailili Egon Keil has notified all licensed firearm and ammunition dealers by letter dated 5 March 2021.

The Commissioner said “this condition is part of our security measure as we prepare for the 2021 general election in the coming month.”

He said any non-compliance will be dealt with accordingly under the provisions of the Arms Ordinance 1960.
